Perio Aid® Active Control

Intended for continuous use during long periods of up to 6 months in:

• Periodontal and peri-implant maintenance, following treatment phase
• Patients with high susceptibility for periodontitis
• Patients with poor plaque control; non-compliant patients
• Patients with difficulty performing mechanical oral hygiene due to physical and/or mental disabilities.
• Patients wearing braces with poor plaque control
• Patients at high risk for caries, root caries and polycaries
• Aphthous ulcers

• Daily use oral antiseptic for controlling recurrence after the periodontal treatment phase

How to use:

Rinse for 30 seconds with 15 ml, 2 times per day (morning and night), after brushing.

Can be used continuously for up to 6 months.

Do not swallow.

Warning:

It is not advisable to rinse with water or eat food immediately after using Perio·Aid®Active Control mouthwash, as this may enhance its bitter flavour.

 

The advantages of combining 0.05% CHX + 0.05% CPC in Perio·Aid® Active Control are backed by different independent studies:

• The daily use of the test mouthwash had an effect on subgingival flora, reducing the total amount of flora and the amount of F. nucleatum (Serrano et al. 2002)1
• The use of a low concentration CHX mouthrinse provided a benefit to the patients in the test group in relation to plaque index, gingival index, probing depth and attachment level after 3 months (Pascual et al. 2002)2
• The results of this 15-day study showed that the tested mouthrinse with low CHX concentration has anti-plaque activity (both intra-group as well as inter-group) and anti-gingivitis activity (intra-group only), in this study (Santos et al .2002)3
• The test product clearly affected the subgingival microflora, significantly reducing the total count and detection rate and the proportion of P. gingivalis in the flora (Santos et al. 2003)4
• Considering the adverse effects, rinsing with CHX-CPC can be an alternative to CHX-Alcohol during maintenance therapy (Soers et al. 2003)5
• In periodontal maintenance phase, the results obtained with Perio·Aid Active Control (0.05% CHX + 0.05% CPC) are comparable to those obtained with a 0.2% chlorhexidine mouthrinse, but with minimal side effects effects (Quirynen et al. 2005)6
• The non-alcoholic 0.05% CHX + 0.05% CPC formulation (Perio·Aid Active Control) is an effective anti-plaque agent for long-term treatments with less side effects (Quirynen et al. 2005)6
• The results of this study show that the tested mouthrinse significantly reduces bacterial plaque and bleeding on probing, therefore improving the clinical situation of periodontal patients whose mechanical plaque control is inadequate (Escribano et al. 2008)7
